All players shall shake hands before and after each match.
No drinks, cigarettes, or any foreign objects in hand or mouth when shooting.
All contestants shall show respect for the players on the board next to them.
All generally accepted rules of good sportsmanship shall apply.
Winners will make the board after match is over.
All decisions by the Officials are final. Any player who makes a scene concerning an Official's decision or verbally abuses the Official and/or Tournament Director shall be subject to disqualification.
Every player should consider it their responsibility to report violation of these rules to a Tournament Official.
The Tournament Director will make the decision if an event is to be continued the next morning.
In order to expedite the tournament, all players must be at the sponsor sale. Players not present at the sponsor sale will be dropped from the event.
Any player not present when they are scheduled to play will be given a five minute grace period and then be assessed a one point penalty per minute late. For doubles, if one player from a team is present, he/she will be allowed their teams practice time.
All boards are to be sprayed with Silicone prior to the start of an event. How often this is done thereafter is up to the discretion of the Tournament Director.
No double release shots shall be permitted.
Each player in singles shall have four (4) practice weights from each end, for doubles each player shall have four (4) practice weights.
In doubles the team with the hammer has the choice of which end they play regardless of which end they practiced.
No blasting on a clear board, one warning, second time one point penalty.
Players shall stand behind their opponent while the opponent is shooting, one warning, and then a penalty point thereafter.
No physical or verbal harassment, one warning, the second time one penalty point.
Tampering with or altering of weights, wax or boards shall result in automatic disqualification.
Before an event starts, you may practice on any board. Once an event starts, and you are still playing, you may not practice on any board. Doing so will result in the forfeit of your next match.
Players shall be allowed to use their own weights, which must have red and blue caps. When doing so, their opponent shall have the option of using them also. The caps may not be switched after the flip.
Only a person's partner and/or captain may offer advice during a match. One warning, one point penalty per infraction thereafter. No coaching of a player in a singles event by anyone.
The following criteria must be met for a shot to be a legal delivery. One foot must be on the ground and both feet must be behind the deuce line when the shot is delivered. No hand may pass the foul line before or after the weight is released. Penalty for this infraction is as follows. The shooter's weight is removed from the board; any weight moved or knocked off shall be replaced.
Weights that fall off the board during the delivery of a puck that are not hit will be brought back onto the table. The shooter does not get his shot over again unless the weight was made safe.
Making a weight safe is the act of pushing a weight that is hanging off the end of the board a minimum distance onto the board to stop it falling off without being hit by another weight. Weights hanging off the end of the board can be made safe. Weights hanging off the side of the board cannot be made safe except if the weight is in danger of falling off the end and hangs over the side as well. Only the opponent or a member of his team may ask for a weight to be made safe. The owner of the weight's rights are covered in Rule 23. No weight can be moved without the owner of the weight being informed. Only an opposition player or an Official will make a weight safe. After being made safe a weight cannot be out-lagged.
All games are to 15 points.
If the object weight has wax on the side that may result in a 'soft' or 'mush' hit, you may have an Official wipe it off and re-spot it.
Flip for choice of hammer or color prior to the start of the game. In competitions, with a best of two out of three format, the person who looses the flip shall have choice of hammer or color in the second game. On the third game the players shall flip again.
Foul Line. A weight must pass the closest foul line to the shooter to count. A weight that does not pass the foul line will be removed from the board.
If there is no score in a game the hammer switches.
If the leading weights in a game are tied, regardless of whether there are other weights on the board, there is no score and the hammer changes.
Three people will call any weights in question.
If a player who has the hammer shoots first, the frame is official after the third weight in the frame is thrown. That is after the person who went out of turn has released his second weight. An official game shall be completed as is.
In handicapped events, the person or team receiving points must mark their points by the second frame or be subject to loosing them.
You may wax dry spots on the rails, using the containers provided, up to the foul line and only on the end you are shooting from. This can only be done when it is your turn and before the end of the frame. An Official shall do all other waxing.
Players may walk to the other end of the board to examine the positions of the weights.
After a team reaches 10 points the players may have a discussion at the middle of the board. Three of these time-outs (two-minute duration) are allowed per game. More than 30 seconds between shots, or more than five minutes between games once the match has started shall constitute slow play and shall result in a one point penalty per infraction.
